New Biomedical Materials Journal MedMat Officially Released

On December 21, 2023, the "MedMat Launch Ceremony and Biomedical Materials Frontier Forum," co-organized by the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereafter referred to as "Institute of Nanoenergy") and Wolters Kluwer Group, took place at the Institute of Nanoenergy in Huairou. The forum's opening ceremony featured the grand unveiling of the first issue of MedMat, an international English-language journal published by Lippincott of the Wolters Kluwer Group, with Academician Wang Zhonglin, director of the Institute of Nanoenergy, serving as the chief editor.

Distinguished guests such as Academician Li Yuliang from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Wang Zhonglin, Professor Hou Yanglong, dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Sun Yat-sen University, Researcher Li Zhou from the Institute of Nanoenergy, Professor Wang Tie, vice president of Tianjin University of Technology, Ms. Wang Zhitong, Vice President of Global Growth Markets and General Manager for China at Wolters Kluwer Group, and Professor Qian Jiuhong, Chairman and General Manager of Youke Periodical Publishing (Beijing) Co., Ltd., attended the meeting. The event was chaired by Professor Hou Yanglong, the executive editor of MedMat.

Opening Remarks

In his opening speech, Academician Wang Zhonglin introduced the launch of the journal MedMat. As a comprehensive, flagship, open-access journal, MedMat aims to address health challenges such as the diagnosis and treatment of major diseases, next-generation drug delivery systems, regenerative medicine, implantable devices, tissue engineering, and translational medicine. Published under the Lippincott platform of Wolters Kluwer Group, MedMat provides an international platform for interdisciplinary research in the field of biomedical materials. The journal covers medical materials specially and functionally designed or engineered for physical form, physicochemical properties, and biocompatibility for potential medical applications, including topics like targeted controlled release carrier materials, stimulus-responsive, diagnostics and therapeutics integration, smart sensors, biomedical and wearable devices. MedMat is expected to rapidly emerge as a new star in the field of biomedical materials, promoting scientific research progress in the fields of medicine, materials, engineering, and more.

 

Ms. Wang Zhitong, Vice President of Global Growth Markets and General Manager for China at Wolters Kluwer Group, mentioned in her speech that Wolters Kluwer Group is a global leader in medical publishing and information services, publishing over 800 professional medical journals, including the historically significant and renowned Lippincott brand. Over its 230-year history, Lippincott has published numerous English-language international medical journals covering various clinical disciplines, including top journals in each specialty and interdisciplinary medical journals.

Academician Li Yuliang, in his address, stated that medical materials, as a vibrant and potential-rich field, have always been at the forefront of the intersection of medicine and engineering, attracting scientists from different disciplines. The launch of MedMat is not only a milestone in the field of medical materials but will also witness more innovations and breakthroughs in this field, becoming one of the leading international platforms in interdisciplinary areas combining materials science, biochemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, and medicine, inspiring and nurturing future scientists and engineers.

 

New Journal Launch

Academicians Li Yuliang and Wang Zhonglin, Professor Hou Yanglong, Researcher Li Zhou, Professor Wang Tie, Ms. Wang Zhitong, and Professor Qian Jiuhong initiated the launch of the new issue of MedMat, with the guests witnessing the unveiling together.
