About MedMat

Materials science
in service of medicine.

MedMat is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed open-access journal for medical materials, devices and systems.

Aims & scope

From foundational material design to clinical translation.

MedMat publishes original research, authoritative reviews and rapid communications addressing major pre-clinical and clinical questions in medical science and bioengineering. Work should combine scientific rigor with a clear account of its biological, medical or healthcare significance.

The journal welcomes studies spanning diagnosis, therapy, repair, regeneration and replacement of diseased tissues or organs. It particularly values research that connects engineered structures, physicochemical properties, biocompatibility and device fabrication to measurable medical function.
